As we predicted a few days ago, the era of the Baylet family ruling Tarn and Garonne has ended. For 45 years Jean Michel Baylet, preceded by his mother Evelyne, have been president of the Conseil General but this ended this week with the election of Christian Astruc, the maire of Dunes.
M Baylet, chairman of the Depeche du Midi group, did not stand for re-election to the presidency in the face of a "tout sauf Baylet" campaign.
M Astruc is an independent elected with the support of the right wing parties led by Brigitte Bareges the maire of Montauban.
