This evening I found about 6 “glow worms” outside our house. When I examined them with a torch I was able to establish that the source of the greenish light was the abdomen of a larva. Googling “glow worm” revealed that several different various groups of insect larvae and adult larviform females glow through bioluminescence. Does anybody know what types of insect larvae “glow” in our part of France?
I couldn’t take a photograph of them because our dog “Oscar” pulled my camera off a work surface recently & the attached lens was damaged. Hence both camera & lens are in a specialist camera repair centre. I love my dog!

I must admit I keep moving Malc's camera to safety, away from the foster puppy's long legs... and playful jaws, the strap hanging from a table being so attractive to pull!!
Bet Nev has an answer on glow worms.
