Is this the end of a golden era?

Yesterday we had a phone call from  Charles Smallwood at Agence L’Union to say he was handing our house sale over to Ruud at Disc in St. Antonin.
He would stay as an advisor to Disc, they would work together rather than as competitors.
Is this an end of a golden era ?
It must be pretty tough for immobiliers whose market has been traditionally in the UK.

Notaires warn about house prices

The latest report by French notaires is pretty gloomy about house prices as an investment. Only in the main cities have prices been more or less stable; the further one gets from the centres of population, the more the prices have fallen in 2014. And old country houses are the least in demand.
Buying a maison secondaire has become more than ever a luxury. Not sure of the possibility of making a profit (and we might add 30 years before capital gains tax is exempted) in these times of falling prices, buyers are scarce on the ground. Apparently the Gers is one area particularly badly hit and the notaires warn of a "plethora of properties" for sale indicating a slow market.
The notaires also point out that the average second home is only used for 6 weeks per annum.
Nevertheless, the beauty of our area, the choice of houses and the weak euro are still attracting buyers looking to move here or buy a holiday home.

Martine Ravily of AG3 Immobilier joins the TAG club

Happy to donate to local charities and also raise her profile Martine Ravily of Varen works hard in her profession as an estate agent in the area. I know in the last couple of weeks two dear friends who are happy with her services and their house sales have gone through with out problems. I do have to declare an interest in Martine as she is a very good friend and also one of our key supporters over the winter of our Opera evenings [I  do not think she missed any of those] I do not think she would mind me saying she is a bit terrier like when there is a chance of a sale, but she is a terrier on the clients behalf. As her husband is a Doctor he works longs hours and Martine spends this time to herself working for clients . Thank you Martine for placing the advert and I hope you do get prospective buyers and sellers from your foresight.
