Horse show in Albi

This weekend at the exhibition hall in Albi is the 2017 Salon du Cheval. Exhibitors staged a procession into the city centre yesterday (Friday 3rd March) where they were blessed by the curé.

The weekend will have shows of every aspect of horses and riders, from thoroughbred race horses to shetland ponies, tack and riding outfits, conferences and presentations. In addition presentations of western (ie cowboy) style riding will be given in the Zenith open air venue.
Sadly the horrible weather is forecast for the weekend, so outdoor events may be affected.

Horse trading

26 people have been arrested, mainly in Belgium, but also Netherlands and France, in a widespread enquiry into illegal trading in horses for meat.
Two years ago Tesco discovered horse meat in what were labelled as beef burgers, precipitating an enquiry into the source. Despite French scorn at our squeamishness over eating horses, the scandal was traced back to France and even led to the closure of a major producer in SW France.
Now this enquiry by the Euro police has resulted in the unmasking of the "brain", a Belgian man and a chain of distribution via Marseille. French authorities have asked for extradition of suspects.

Welsh breeds horse show

Hi Val
Would you mind putting a note about our show on TAG please.

I am organising a Welsh and Part bred Welsh horse show with the association Welsh Passion France, at Puylagard on Saturday 6th September, at the site of the Haras (just before Salle des Fetes)

The show is for all 4 sections of Welsh pony and welsh part-breds in hand and will start at around 10.00 am.  There are also two junior handler classes  (12yrs and under, and, Over 12 years) which are open to any breed of pony since they are judged on the handler not the horse, and three ridden classes (lead rein, Junior and Open) also open to any breed of pony.

Entries need to be in by the 30th, so if you are interested contact me quickly and I will send you the forms.

Thanks, Karen

Val says our donkeys are not proud, they would love that. I cannot promise they will come as it maybe
a day they have planned their next escape!

Val says  Jeannine Edelblut  an American came to France with a dream, but never knew it would include saving three horses, read the link to read all about it. There is a link in the blog to the people who are taking on one of the horses but I have copied it so it works
