Le Saut du Tarn Museum

The Museum is located in the heart of the former  industrial site of " Le Saut  du Tarn"in the building where the first hydro electric power plant was used . The Tarn river winds down into a rocky gorge over a distance of 500m offering a turbulent sight which has no equivalent in the region. These natural falls 18metres or about 59 feet high provided favorable conditions for the setting up of an ironworks site in the 19th century, a historic and prosperous factory. Founded in 1824 near the town of Albi. The plant employed several generations of workers, skills being passed from Fathers to sons. The conditions were gruelling, noise, heat, dust and accidents but the Factory forged not only metal but a brotherhood between the employees.
If you are interested  in Industrial history this must be worth a visit.
