Phew! out in the sun all day on the mower.

It takes four hours give or take the odd cup of tea to mow all the grounds around the two houses.
In the summer we put out badminton nets, have a croquet lawn etc. etc. Summer sport is at a leisurely level for us and the renters, but you need the lawn space for these activities and for children to run about.
I feel quite mean as my donkeys walk up and down with me enjoying the smell of newly cut grass. The best they get is when I move the fence out a little to finish off the edges, it is a bit like giving the dogs a bit of crust off the  toast.
Finished up by moving a pile of branch and bonfire rubbish over to the neighbours' pile of rubbish, ready for a big bonfire. We might as well have one big burn out and it saves us getting a circle of singed grass here.
A French friend has been and tidied up the hedge for us at the bottom of the garden and once again your eye is taken down the valley to Varen nestling by the river Aveyron, what a view.
Hope you have had a productive day and your garden is starting to look good.
Photographed by Stuart Cryer, at the start. At the end , clothes had been discarded. [ well some of them!] You can hear the donkeys saying ''but the grass is greener on the otherside!''
