The death knell of the two party system says Le Monde

Bipolar politics is dead” declared left-leaning daily "Le Monde" on Monday. “It has been replaced by a three-party system including the Socialists, UMP [centre-right opposition] and now the FN too.”It is the death knell for France’s two-party system,” wrote Bruno Dive in an opinion piece for daily newspaper "Sud Ouest" on Monday
“There are now three blocs in French politics, the left, the right and the National Front,” he wrote.
Dominique Jung, writing in the "Dernières Nouvelles d’Alsace", also saw the FN as France’s new third force: “There is no doubt that we are seeing the end of the left-right system that has existed up until now.”
Hollande punished by voters
Sunday’s vote was a sobering wake-up call to President François Hollande’s ruling Socialists.
The UMP, France’s main centre-right opposition party, claimed their own “big victory” after taking 47 percent of the vote against the Socialists’ 38 percent. The ballot  is widely seen as a punishment for Hollande’s apparent inability to reduce unemployment and kickstart the economy.
