It ain't half hot

2013 was the sixth warmest year since 1850 according to the World Meteorological Organisation and 4th when you discount "El Nino" years which distort the weather. Par contre, it was only marginally warmer than the average of the last 10 years. Interestingly the northern hemisphere winters have also been colder over the decade, reversing the trend of the previous 30 years. And 13 of the 14 warmest years since the industrial revolution have been in the 21st century (1998 being the other). Of course this is on a world scale and individual areas may have been slightly different, but the WMO sees it as clear evidence of global warming.
