Before Christmas we had a donation of 100 euros to Alzheimer's 82 a support group at Montauban. As this was a cash donation we sent a cheque covering the amount straight away asking for a receipt. When we had not heard anything mid January I phoned the office and spoke to a frail, elderly sounding lady who did not seem to know if the cheque had been received. She said she would look around and phone me back. A week later having heard nothing I asked Malc to phone with his better French. He did and the same lady answered and yes the cheque was there and we would be sent a receipt. Another two weeks went by and we had posted another two cheques for 35 euros each, so we phoned to see if these had been received, after a lot of paper shuffling it was confirmed that they had been and of course we would be sent a receipt. Nothing has arrived.
It is so important for me handling money, especially cash that I can prove it is handed over, that I have made an " executive" decision to change the charity donations from Alzheimer's 82 to the new Cancer support charity set up in the area.
So our choice of charities will be
