A save the elephants appeal from Laos

Helo Val
of course I was interested by your post about the elephants, living half
time in Laos,
called "le pays au Million d Elephants". Unfortunately there are only 1500 left, and
half of them are domesticated and poorly mistreated. Many are used to unroot primary forrest trees, illegally of course ,and exported to Vietnam and Thailand, where
the logs are worked to make these lovely garden furniture that we can buy in Europe
 sans complexes..
I can recommend you to log in at

http://www.elefantasia.org

that I know well, and who have opened an elephant conservation center aimed at
treating hurt elephants , saving them from bad use, optimizing good reproduction
conditions. They try to convert them to trekking with t ourists in the forrest, which the
elephants seem to enjoy much more than carrying tons of wood, and be beaten for salary.
of course they try to levy funds from sympatizers, they are sponsored andseriously controlled
by le Centre N ational de la Recherche Scientifique.

have a good read and tell me about it.
Betrand.
