I agree that those who express powerful opinions on TAG should be at liberty to identify themselves.
Isn't that rather the point of strong views - that their holders want people to know they have them?
But, as here, some write in just to help reinforce some small piece of good sense they've read there.
And when others contribute, it gives insight into their private lives, which they'd prefer stayed private.
I do believe people in the last two groups should have the right to remain anonymous, if they choose.
