It is Valentine's Day, the 14th of February, a day to celebrate love... and poetry.

             BRINK OF LOVE

O Sea of Love, I stand bewildered on your shores,
I feel your waters lapping round my heart,
Yet still I can look back to touch and cling to
That safe, familiar land, ne’er to depart.

How long before you make me lose my foothold?
How long before your waves engulf my soul?
No longer to reach out and grasp earth’s sanity,
Adding yet another to your toll.

As I hover on the brink of no return,
Though I know your Gods will ne’er reveal my fate,
How I long to know what lies ahead of me
That I may turn back before it is too late.

Will you let me ride the waves and feel the sunlight?
Will your foamy brine caress and kiss my breast?
Or will you dash me to the rocks in stormy passion
And cast me to your depths for e’er to rest?

         FORBIDDEN LOVE

Come, blessed Sleep and let me dream
Come, take away the bonds of Conscience.
Only you can let me love him
Free, without Guilt’s omnipresence.

Now, my darling, I am yours
       In my dream world fantasy,
Held so tightly in your arms
As you nestle close to me.
I could know no greater pleasure
       As you tenderly caress me,
Than to rouse your deepest passions
       To our mutual ecstasy.

O that this dream could end but never
Or that I had the right to love you, ever!
