What an interesting morning and the good news is my donkeys have no sabot / hoof problems.
Kick up those happy feet girls. It is so important that one keeps donkeys and horses hooves well cared for and we are lucky to have found Patrick Rossetti tel. 0563 670286. A well trained marechal who know his stuff, we have used him for 6 years.
Patrick tells us that it is damage to the interior of the hooves which then allows the growth of bacteria which rest in the soil and are not being killed off by frost this year. The two donkeys we are caring for arrived with damaged hooves and the fungal infection and therein lies the problem.
