Michel Tournier dies

Schoolchildren for many years have studied the novels of Michel Tournier as part of their French literature courses. Inspired by "Robinson Crusoe, Fournier's "Vendredi ou la vie Sauvage" and other novels for young people have become part of the school curriculum and his novel "Le Roi des Aulnes" won the Prix Goncourt in 1971. President Hollande stated that Tournier's works had "marked a generation of schoolchildren". The author died yesterday aged 91.
