January 26th: Taxi strike

Taxis will stage a day of action nationwide on Tuesday 26th January. This will include blocking access to major Toulouse venues such as the airport and the railway station. Passengers are advised to allow time to avoid delays, though the action starts at 6am.
Taxi drivers think that government plans to allow VTC (vehicles de tourisme avec chauffeur) - minicabs to us - greater access is encouraging illegal competition. Having seen off Uber they are now turning on VTCs - does customer choice not come into this (or is that too Anglo-Saxon liberal economics)?
