We have just been watching a red squirrel lining his/her drey with moss. Hopefully that means they are going to give birth soon. However we have seen similar behaviour before which came to nothing. I suspect that they may prepare several dreys before they choose one.
First the squirrel collects moss in his/her mouth. Then he takes it up to the drey, lines the drey with it, and then sets off for more moss.
