The month of my project to send rain ponchos to the refugees arriving on Leros Island in Greece has come to an end. As you have been generous supporters of this project I would like to tell you the result.
In all, between the different methods, you donated 2256 euros ! Of this I advanced 1526 euros and sent 500 adult ponchos (200 strong ones and 300 lighter ones), 60 children’s rain jackets and 40 small children’s rain ponchos to Leros island.
This now leaves 756 euros to spend.
At the moment I am auto financing a tip to Leros Island to volunteer my help with the refugees who are arriving in very large numbers. (At the moment there are 3500 refugees on the island which has a population of less than 8000.). I will talk with the volunteers there, see the quality of the goods and decide what to buy with the 756 euros left from our project. As soon as I see the best option, I will use up the remaining money.

Val says well done Jacky. Remember we gathered medicines and bedding for Jacky's initial trip when she contacted us. Then she set up her rain ponchos for Greece which many of us supported.
