We reported a month or two back on the devastation being wrought to the beach at Laguepie, to install new drainage. Well today it has finished, with the contractors clearing away the last of their plant, having levelled the area ready for planting. One of our favourite little riverside strolls will soon be on the list again. For those of you used to climbing up to the chateau via the footpath from the foot of the bridge, which has been closed for some months as it was under threat of landslides, work is progressing to clear away the trees and shrubs from the hillside ready to stabilise the cliff. The road to Le Riols, Sommard etc has been blocked for a week or two now, but should be open again when the heavy plant is moved.
