Nev spots a treecreeper

Dear Val and Malcolm,Eurasian Treecreeper - le Grimpereau des bois

Treecreepers, these are about the same size as a Wren, but the long beak and tail make them seem much larger.  The intricately patterned brown plumage, with its mottled white markings makes them hard to spot.  One of the frustrating habits of this species, is they move around to the other side of the tree when spotted, but then photographers love a challenge, don't they?

The name Treecreeper, aptly describes their habit of climbing up from the bottom of a tree hunting for insects.  The reason they start at the bottom is that their tails are so long they are unable to hop backwards down the trunk.  The nest of the Treecreeper is often squeezed behind a hanging piece of bark, we have seen one and it looks really precarious.  The nest normally has two openings, one for the entrance, the other an exit.  What you might call an avian one way system.
