Controle Technique

Those of us with cars registered here in France have to put the car through a "controle technique" (MOT) every 2 years. I find that a set of tyres lasts about 30 months so each time the examiner says "keep an eye on the tyres". This time with the cabriolet he said that the headlights were becoming so incrusted that they either need to be polished or if too bad, replaced. The car is 14 years old and washed rather infrequently (typical teenager!) so not surprised that the eyes are a bit dim. But it seems that a car can actually fail its controle for this and changing the headlight lenses could be expensive. I have bought a "Kit Renovation Optiques" which promises "résultat professionnel" - so if you are blinded by an oncoming CLK you will know it worked.
