Paddington has hat colour changes with each new illustrator

A reader has asked why  my Paddington has a blue hat when in the film is hat is red. Paddington over the years in the books changed illustrators. My favourite was the first Peggy Fortnum followed by Fred Banbury in 1972 when his hat was blue. In 1976 Ivor Wood took over and David Mckee in the 80's changed his hat for the first time to red. In the 90' s R.W. Alley kept up with the red theme. The red wellingtons on my bear came in in 1972 when toy makers Gabrielle designs put him in a pair of red boots so he could be made to stand.
I would like to see a film " Paddington holidays in SW France"  He could come and stay in our gite and ride the donkeys!
