Beautiful Besse and those blessed ticks.

Hi Val
We have a cocker spaniel, Ella, who wears a Scalibor collar all summer and now for the winter months a Seresto collar.
The Scalibor costs around 23€, works for 5 months but only against ticks (not fleas)
The Seresto costs roughly the same , works for 7 –8 months against ticks and fleas
Some dogs have a bit of an allergic reaction to the Seresto but probably better than having piroplasmosis.
We have never had any problems with ticks on Ella (in spite of her gallavanting EVERYWHERE)since we started with the collar regime ( and thankfully after a battle with fleas ignoring every ‘spot on’ known to man, no fleas either)
Attached is the latest photo from Ray and Sue of ‘Big Besse!’ who is now attending obedience training and doing really well ( 14kg now!!)
Love
Jane
Val says Bonny on the vets reccomendation has worn a Scalibor tick collar changing for a new one after 5 months, worn all year, but still she has piroplasmosis for the second time. Bonny's coat does seem to attract ticks. When  Twister was alive because he had a smooth coat he never got a tick. I think the whole of his life he only had one, whilst on Bonny we can find 3 a week in the summer. Malc says change that to three a day.
Lovely to see beautiful Besse looking so well.
