The four of us have just arrived back home, Malc, me and the dogs.
It is the Foire at Laguepie today, (the third Tuesday in the month) which means there are more stalls with knickers and nighties and shoes for "old dears"
Now there is a reader who will be cringing at my descriptions of "old dears" but I would be really happy if someone described me as an "old dear" although I would find it unlikely. (old battle axe perhaps)
The morning was cloudy and an "old sweetie" we know said in French of course " it's all the pollution coming over from Toulouse" It is never worth contradicting is it?
We did not meet any other expat friends this morning but went round the market bisou-ing to what appeared to be every French person we knew. They like their Foires the French and wandering around in our walking boots and doggy haired covered clothes, we felt right at home.
Malc without telling me bought some brandade de morue for lunch, so any earlier anger I felt against him about the politics remark soon dissipated
Along with all the normal vegetables we treated ourselves to some " garriguettes" lovely small sweet French strawberries much nicer than those big tasteless Spanish ones, although the Spanish ones are half the price.
We spotted asperges/asparagus but at 6 euros 90 a bunch we left it for another couple of weeks, when the price will halve.
Then we walked the dogs along the banks of the Viaur, everyone getting wet and muddy, as a fine drizzle started.
The banks were covered in wild primroses, violets, cowslips, wood anemones, blue and purple flowers which look like red campions and masses of those purple crocuses. We cannot remember such a wonderful display.
We got back home to discover the renters yesterday had done a bit of weeding and thrown all the weeds into the donkey field so the four chums had decided to tidy up the area, that will keep them happy for a short while, and to others who have renters note... training is important.
