Yesterday we briefly said goodbye to Peter and Jenny from St. Antonin, ( bon chance in Devon) they have sold their beautiful home to an couple probably about 15 years younger. This is what happens here, the new arrivals are recent "retraites"and around the coming up to 60' s mark.
We arrived in the same way in our late fifties with a group of friends we made, all just recently retired. Over the 13 years some have sadly died, some have gone back to England and a few stalwarts are still with us. What has started to change for us all are health concerns, don't you just hate being like your parents? oh, yes I take prevastatin, omeprazole etc, etc, ad infinitum.
I worry this is going to become an "oldies" blog but before a certain lady accuses me of playing the ageism card, if the life we lead here sees us having a great time, walking, reading, cycling, taking photographs, enjoying meals with friends, learning new language skills who is going to complain?
I rely on younger readers who are coming out to join us to redress the balance and give us their take on life here. Over to you " young uns"
Anyone skiing this winter with fun tales to tell, go on give us some exciting dare devil pursuits.
