Putting the headline on the Soulages story below, "Picasso et Co." provoked the thought that it was the third time in two weeks that the name of Picasso had appeared in a Taglines story. He had been influential in promoting the careers of the musician Manitas de Plata, the photographer Lucian Clergue and now the lithographer Aldo Crommelynck. Originating from the south they, as many others they became friends of Picasso who admired their creative talent. Certainly the name of Picasso will attract an audience to almost any exhibition (even sell a car?) but his influence was clearly wider than we imagine.
