We need not have worried, the town came out en masse to support the lads. You would wonder why there was not a spare parking place if you were visiting the town. The salle des thermes was packed to bursting from 7pm onwards. Malc and I did a stint collecting money on the door we needed two collection posts. I sat with Muhammad from 9 till 10 and Malc was with a French lady called Nathalie. We were taking money hand over fist and Muhammad was marking the fists as they paid. We kept giggling together, we were so delighted and I kept saying "all these people are here for you Muhammad, they wish you well."
Some came and paid and said we only came to pay and show support then left. Families came en masse with children, grandparents, what a night.
I have to say all the young men and the French benevoles who had worked so hard for this evening were all feeling happy and emotional. Who could have expected such a turn out?
I cannot wait to hear what the final sum collected will be... and I really feel like saying,
"up yours Marine Le Pen supporters," this is what the good hearted French are like.
Not sure about my Pakistani but my French is coming on in leaps and bounds.
