Where were the grenades and CS gas in this manifestation?

3000 farmers took 400 tractors and dumped manure in Toulouse bringing the city to a halt. This is in the on going battle with the government about the overuse of raw manure over-polluting the land and rivers. Where were the gendarmes and riot police throwing grenades and CS gas canisters? Do not tell me that the farming lobby does not have inner circle backing.  It strikes me as one law for the farmers and another for bio diversity, ecology protesters, a point made by a reader in an earlier post.
At the least I hope Farmers Unions got a bill for the clear up.
