It never ceases to amaze me how small changes can have such an affect on your working life. When we first came to France we might a Frenchman who designed planes in Toulouse. Now the aerospace industry is booming and they will be churning out planes for the next 30 years. What they do not need at the moment is new planes designing and so from being on a crest of the wave, fortunes have changed for designers. Finding a new path is not easy in later life but one can sometimes find a niche which is just as rewarding and profitable.
How many of us changed course mid stream and not only lived to tell the tale, but thrived.
A little bit of luck and a hell of a lot of hard work often works.
