Two of our young neighbours came this morning to walk the donkeys, they were both filled with excitement. They knew another young person who had an uncastrated male donkey at Najac who wanted to give it away ... for free.
We have two female donkeys who are always it seems in season/ en chaleur," what a good idea" Val they said to take this donkey, then you could have donkey foals!
Hang on girls, I can hardly cope with the four I am now looking after.
I think from the look on my face it was quickly realised that I was not going to go for this one, so they ended up saying well will you put on TAG there is someone with an uncastrated donkey to give away.
To prove the point that donkeys are not easy to manage the girls went off with Lucy and Rosie, only to arrive back with Lucy on the lead and Rosie who has just come into season who had broke free to race back to her boyfriend Filou ( the big ugly chap) Amidst lots of heehaws there was a joyful reunion and then spectacular mating in the field.
I, who was busy trying on my newly arrived cashmere sweater did not really want to get involved this morning and so Malc and I sneaked off to Charley's for lunch leaving the young people and mating donkeys to it.
For new readers we are looking after two castrated male donkeys for a young neighbour. One of the donkeys can perform but will not produce babies.
