A small hameau called St.Martial remembers

The Mayor of Varen laying the wreath and giving his speech prepared by the minister of " anciens combatants" A speech that would be read at monuments de mort throughout France. A goodly gathering for a small hameau on the outskirts of Varen but in the commune. A very touching moment thinking of all the young farm boys whose names are on the monument.The sun shone but the wind whipped the flags held by elderly men of the village as a recording of the last post and then the Marseillaise  was played. At the end the Mayor and many of his councillors jumped into cars to be off to Arnac for a repeat of the ceremony.
