Bonjour Val,
Re your recommendation to sufferers not to worry about 26 stitches, the procedure which I mentioned to you does not involve any stitches and the dressing comes off in two days (you take it off yourself as it's just covering up the hypodermic entry) and that's it.... Finished. The technique was pioneered in France and has been carried out for many years. I had it done over 10 years ago without any problem whereas the surgeon in England was concerned that after they lifted the palm area there would not be enough skin to meet up again due to the way the skin below the finger had turned in on itself. The french procedure took 20 minutes and cost me about €60 because I wanted it done quickly and, not being in the french system, it was private.
Really just to suggest that if you are in France it's probably worthwhile checking into it. Best wishes,
Alan & Val
Val says I must admit Alan told me about his experience just before I had my hand operated on. The surgeon two years earlier had told me whatever I did not to consider other options as he said he did lots of operations trying to correct others mistakes trying to go down other routes. My surgeon would have a vested interest perhaps and maybe sufferers should do as Alan did and research other routes before making a decision. Maybe also the severity of the condition has a bearing.
