Given up and gone to pastures new

Renting a house/ gite here has its ups and  downs and many of us are on the  gite roundabout, some even moving out of their own homes and living in cheaper accommodation or a caravan for the 8 week summer period. If you have renters on site or nearby as we do, one can hear the children playing most of the summer. Malc and I love this,  hearing the little children's happy voices, not for everyone I assume. Why though do we feel responsible for the weather? We can lay on splendid scenery, a comfortable well presented house with every mod. con. but if the sun does not shine you are on a loser. Today the couple renting admitted defeat and decided to leave early and go up North where there are a couple of huge brocantes they can visit. They have never once had chance to sit on the terrace for breakfast or even open the rolling pool cover to look at the pool and they have even missed the excitement of escaping donkeys. The donkeys,  they  are stuck in a small electrified fenced field staring balefully out at the grass on our side, no pastures new for them.
As they left the renters  said " and the forecast is good for next week"
