Be quick to photograph St Cecile

The restoration works which have led to Albi cathedral being shrouded in scaffolding and white sheets for the last three years have been completed and the drapes removed. Repairs and renovations to the encircling wall of the roof, including many gargoyles and carvings, have meant thousands of bricks being replaced, stone weather boards renewed, glass replaced and even a new head to a gargoyle. The huge gutters have been renewed in copper and windows have been protected from birds with stainless steel grilles.
Now open to the gaze of only the falcons who nest up there and photographers with telephoto lenses the canopy can rest tranquil for a while. But only for a while, as new works are in the pipeline to protect the canopy with a lead covering as protection from infiltration by rain water. So to get a shot of St Cecile without her shrouds get there now.
