Malc and I on meeting up after the concert at Najac both said " wasn't the music exciting" I sat on the very front row, very comfortable on my cushion I now always take for church pews. Malc sat nearer the back to take photos with his new birthday lens. Sadly I was in a spot of trouble as I had used his camera the day before and forgot to turn it off and it had run out of charge, so no photos for TAG of the evening. Glad Malc was at the back when he discovered it !
The evening was not as well attended as it should have been for such a prestigious group but publicity had been in the Depeche and TAG and I noticed flyers around the area. The audience was two thirds English and a good percentage were TAG readers but if we are lucky enough for them ever to come again I will promote much more actively. There is always a chance of that as Linda Hatfield, one of the singers/ organisers from the Folk'n' Jazz club was straight in, to let the group know we would be welcoming if they came back and with two terriers like Linda and me on the case maybe they will.
Peter Knight is the legendary violinist and singer player from Steeleye Span. The three man group that were here playing last night were called " Peter Knights Gigspanner" Along with Peter there was Roger Flack on guitar and Vincent Salfaas on congas / djembe ( lots of drums to me) The folk/ jazz music was just brilliant and you really could not stop your feet tapping. I was pleased Malc bought a CD of the music which covers many of the songs they sang. Check them out on www.gigspanner.com and cross your fingers we can persuade them to come again.
They are in concert again on the 20th of Sept. at Le Château, La Bastide- Marhoc ( 10km South of Cahor) Tickets are 12 euros and I have asked what time the concert starts and I will update that information. The doors open at 20.00 for a 20.30 start.
