Many of the French comments on UK withdrawal from the EU have made the point that it is England they would like to see the back of. Scotland, newly independent would be welcome. So is there more to Andy Murray's appointment of a French coach, Amelie Mauresmo a former Wimbledon winner herself, than meets the eye? Just for the "grass court season" initially, ie until the Scottish referendum. Whilst appointing a woman is welcome news is it the renewal of the ancient Franco/Scottish alliance against the auld enemy, perfidious Albion? We should be told. (and if Andy wins again he will, of course, be British).
