Merci Michelle, for a new DVD collection to enhance the swap.

Michèle Vassal Ring who lives in Caylus has joined our scheme for the DVD swap. Michele brought a carrier bag full of goodies whilst we were " coffeeing" at the Gazpacho this morning. Sorry I did not get chance to say more than a thank you but I hope to see you for the next  swap Michele which will be  Monday 5th in March at the Gazpacho in St. Antonin starting at 10. 30 am. In the meantime keep your eye on the new DVDs on Martyn's site, label at the top of the page on TAG.

Book and DVD swap, very busy for January

We were surprised at the number of books and people at the swap, it has really caught on. Circulating  was a very dog eared copy of  " Fifty shades of Grey", well I never! A now regular French lady who comes was surprised how much crime fiction we seem to read, not to her taste but she always managed to find an armful of books that she likes.
Martin was surprised with the DVD collection that there was so much interest and he also has some new titles to take away and add to the collection. It all ran very smoothly, so thank you Martin for your organisational skills. He  says before the next one if people want to order he will be happy to reserve a title or two.

DVD swap full steam ahead

After a few concerns raised by readers, we were in the process of checking out if we were contravening any digital rights by organizing the DVD swap. I am more than delighted that we have a reader living  in the area who works for the European  Commision at Brussels. He  phoned to say he actually wrote the report on digital copying on the  Intellectual Property of DVDs for the Berne Convention and we have no problem with the swap. He suggests that we get people who want to swap to sign a disclaimer for Martin saying they will not copy DVDs. Malcolm says we will also add to the disclaimer that DVDs are swapped at the owners risk [ so do not lend any discs that are important to you ] So by tonight the site will be up and running again... all systems go. Martin has added a ''wish list'' to the site which is a great idea.
LORRAINE says  What a brilliant site Martin. We are away on the swap date but will certainly be there for the next swap.

Concern from a reader about the DVD swap.

Are we infringing any DVD rights by organising our swap, a concerned reader asks? Until we have verified we have taken down the DVD link. We are pretty sure that if there is no money involved, that no copying of DVD,s takes place there should not be a problem.
The book and DVD swap will be Monday morning 14th 10. 30 am at the Gazpacho, St. Antonin

DVD loan scheme and library

2013 will see the start of TAG-on-line's DVD Loan Scheme, which will take place along with the bi-monthly Book Swap Event — at 10.30am on Monday 14th January at the Gaspacho, St.Antonin.
We welcome all of you to embrace this scheme, and register with me, Martin Mackenzie, by contributing  a DVD or two. This will allow me to enter your details along with the DVDs you have for loan and ensure that all the library's content is logged correctly and can therefore be returned to each owner at any point in the future.
So you needn't fear that your favourite DVD will disappear for ever.
Take a look at the site, sort out some DVDs you can spare for a few months, and then please CONTACT ME from the site to register. It may sound a little dictatorial when I say that without doing this, it becomes problematic should you want to borrow any DVDs — I DO need your details to track each and every disc.
Hoping to hear from you — go to the DVD loan scheme tab above, next to Restaurants and click the link.
Wishing you Very Good Viewing,
Martin.

DVDs titles to Martin please

Christmas day over, a time now to relax and choose a couple of DVDs to lend to the scheme for a while. Send the titles to Martin Mackenzie for the 15th of January so he can put on the specially created site linked to TAGlines. I cannot keep a secret, Martin has spent time creating an amazing site which you will see in the next few days. We have come back with cases full of DVDs which after viewing can add to the pool, so there is going to be plenty of choice. To join is free but Martin wants your details so he can instantly know who has each disc. To contact Martin  - Martin.Mackenzie@orange.fr

New DVD loan scheme

INVITATION - NEW FOR 2013 - COME AND JOIN IN OUR NEW DVD LOAN SCHEME

Instead of just going away after the next Book Swop at the Gazpacho with your usual armful of new titles to read, why not include a few film titles as well!  All you need to do is JOIN the scheme. Membership is free - but you do need to register with Martin Mackenzie via email — martin.mackenzie@orange.fr

Martin  will need your

1. NAME
2. Tel.N°
3. email
4. A list of your DVDs that you will loan. (If the DVD is a boxed set, please add the N° of discs in the set).

Each DVD will carry a small sticky label showing the Taglines Loan Logo, the Owners Name, and the DVD reference N° and N° of discs.

This is a great opportunity to catch up on some of the great films you just happened to miss out on, and discover some hidden gems maybe! So go and sort out some of your collection and email Martin with the details.

AND DON'T WORRY - THIS IS A LOAN SCHEME - YOUR PRECIOUS DVDs CAN BE RETURNED TO YOU AT ANY OF THE FUTURE LOAN EVENTS AS AND WHEN NECESSARY. Martin will have all titles indexed at all times. If you want to know where your DVDs are, you can email him for the info.

The next "Book-Swop" is scheduled for  Monday Jan  14th 2013.  Martin will need details of your DVDs as soon as possible so don't delay. We will post peoples contributions to the "loan-pool" as they are made available.

And because this is a LOAN scheme and NOT a Swop, you Taggers need to register and contribute at least one DVD in order to BORROW!

Your comments will be welcome - any hints, tips and advice to make this scheme work well will be much appreciated.

Martin Mackenzie

Val says
Martin will also be the holder of the reserve stock whilst DVDs are not being loaned. Brilliant Martin, I will get cracking on my list for you tomorrow.

DVD,s but on a different basis

I have had a few people mention that they like the idea of the DVD swap but maybe only rubbish DVD's would be taken  and some people may take DVD's  away but never bring any.
To counteract  these problems  we could appoint a duty monitor, taking turns at this . We could buy some sticky labels to go on the case of the DVD saying who the DVD belongs to. After  a few swaps the DVD could be given back to it's original owner. If you took 5 DVD's you would be entitled to take 5 away. Do people think this is a good idea ? and has anyone any further ideas to make it work.
I would be happy to take 5 for starters
The Lord of the Rings Trilogy
Gladiator with Russell Crowe
Midnight Express
One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest    Jack Nicholson
Tout Peut Arriver  Very funny comedy (in English possible ) with Jack Nicholson and Diane Keaton
Please let me know if you like the idea or have even better  ideas on the subject.
Also if anybody has any videos that they cannot watch due to lack of player we would be happy to have them as our new home cinema would play them.

Comment from Martin Mackenzie
Regarding your post re DVD swop.  I think it could work. My thoughts are
1. If there is NO LIMIT set to the number of DVDs ( discs) swop-able at any "Swop event" - then it's possible that should some people bring 5, they may want/insist going away with 5. In other words, there may be "circulation problems" where although there are 20 or 30 discs present, not many people get to see them because they are almost immediately commandeered by each swopper as they replace to their same number
2. Following on from this, what if someone brings 5, but only fancies 1 or 2 of the others on offer?
So, would it be more practical if, say over a 6 or 12 month period, people lent their DVDs to the TAG library, and at each event-swop, folk were limited to, say, 3 titles, or 1 box set of multiple discs?  As the library grew, you could possibly increase the number for loan to 4 or 5 discs.
This would allow better circulation as it avoids one-to-one monopoly.

These thoughts are off the top of my head so there may well be 'holes' in this logic—I'm sure many other readers will have their own ideas and likely better ones than these first thoughts of mine.

Katherine Bloomfield wonders
How about something similar to the old fashioned cigarette card swap - I'll show you mine if you will show me yours and maybe we can swap those we don't have.
