We went down to the veterinary surgery in Laguepie this morning to pay a bill only to discover, via a notice on the door, that it has moved.
Their new premises are at 8 rue Clair Vallon, Laguepie.
The directions say to take the road to Varen and at 300 metres after the Distillerie arts centre take a small road to the right, leading up to the Maison de Retraite. The cabinet is above this road.
It is surprising that when we visited there last, only about a month ago, or that with the end of September bill (which has the new address on it) no notice of the move was given.

Saving a paper horse
Actually a papier maché model of a life size horse, with 121 pieces, which was used by veterinary students in the 19thC at the University of Toulouse vet school.
A famous professor, Dr Auzaux, in the early 1800s made the model to help students understand anatomy. There are other models too, including a life size turkey and others which could be classed as monuments historiques.
The Ecole Veterinaire is a valuable teaching and research centre in Toulouse which holds regular clinics for small animals - we have had our dog treated there on a couple of occasions for complaints which have baffled local vets.
The vintage teaching aids need 25000 euros for restoration and a crowdfunding scheme has been set up at https://www.commeon.com/fr/projet/restaurez-les-modeles-dauzoux

Lucy Johnstone is on the mend
Our Lucy is an " ange" sometimes, and today with the vet Charles from Laguepie she showed what a calm donkey she can be. She had her hoof cleaned and pared, an antibiotic injection all without batting an eye. The vets opinion is the stones in her hoof (which we found yesterday) had punctured the corium which as she is showing a bit of fourmiliere (a type of fungal infection) is causing her pain.
I have some powders to give one a day with a compote but as I have never given her a compote I will probably stick it in half an apple. If any donkey or horse people know of a compote, please let me know.
She should be walking better in a few days and even today one can see a difference after removing the stones yesterday.
All the donkeys are due a tetanus injection which lasts 3 years but is obligatory to have in France as is being puced.( having their identifying number in their neck)
People ask " are they cheap to keep donkeys, I suppose you stick them in the field and they eat the grass."
If only it was that simple.

Twister is getting on, we are all going the same way!
Yesterday Twister our elderly lab needed his jabs. We have had Twist just over 4 years when his owner went into a maison de retraite and he ended up in a refuge.
He is an adorable dog but has always had dysplasia of the joints and now he is totally deaf and has developing cataracts. The vet at Laguepie has left and been replaced by a young Belgian guy who speaks English.
One has not got to promote vets or doctors, their ethical code so if anyone wanted more info. we can be contacted off line.
TAG is often asked about Doctors and vets off line and the first question is usually "do they speak English
