Bearded vultures released
The bird, also known as a lammergaier, is being reintroduced into the high causses in Aveyron by the LPO (French equivalent of the RSPB). The plan is to create a group of these birds - the only one of its genus - which will re-populate the area from the pre-Alps to the Pyrenees. The birds were raised in captivity in Spain and Hungary.
