Very British, Montaigu de Quercy

hi Val
There was no mention of speaking French. However, we lived in Montaigu de Quercy for four months before moving here, and they
wouldn't have a problem. There is an English library, the restaurant is British run, the pizza place Dutch, the vet was British and I reckon most of the properties are owned by ex pats too! There are some places where you don't need to make an effort to integrate and, beautiful though it is, I think Montaigu de Quercy is one of them. Although St Antonin has a lot of ex pats, they are more scattered - all our neighbours in this road are French, so you do need to make that effort to communicate and be part of the community if you are going to enjoy life fully. So that is a question for you and your readers, Val, what do you do about places that seem to be losing their French 'heart'?

Malc thinks there must be a very proactive UK estate agent in the area, but would you be happy living in an English enclave? One of the pleasures of being here is learning new life styles, cultures and making friends with the natives. I hope we get other opinions.
