I do so love the follow up stories

Hello Val,
I was just about to compose an email to you when this came in.
She has taken to her new home no trouble at all. She is ultra friendly to everybody. All the cats have scarpered, but they don’t yet know that she won’t harm them.
I have Frontlined her and wormed her. She will be vaccinated on Monday afternoon.
We did a short walk on the lead last evening. She pulled me along, so will need a bit of training there! She has energy to spare and does not know how to walk – only to run. She does not seem to know the sit and lie down commands, but oddly enough gives you a paw when asked. So, we will have a few training sessions and see how it goes.
This morning we (plus a neighbour’s dog) did about 4 km mostly off the lead. She certainly has energy to spare and also went into the river – or fell in whilst sniffing for ragondins!
She ran around a bit in the winter wheat – I hope the farmer did not see that! However, I did not know that it was sprayed yesterday and she took an itchy reaction to the chemical (other dogs are fine) on her paws which drove her mad for about an hour, even after rinsing her feet many times. She charged around the house like a mad thing scraping her feet everywhere. I ended up phoning the vet whereupon it suddenly stopped. So, it looks as if she is allergic to whatever was being sprayed and we will need to keep away from that area for a while.
She met next door’s  little scruff of a dog this morning and strangely submitted to him, when she could easily swot him aside. He joined us for about 100m on the walk and decided to go home. He is one of those dogs never allowed in the house and untrained, but streetwise and wanders all over the place.
 Regards,
 Don
Val says it sounds to me that Maya has fallen on her itchy feet. A loveable girl who will be a delight with the training she is going to get. Thank you Don for this early update.
