One death outside in the cold I had not thought of

An old lady 88 years  living at Gramat, got up in the middle of the night and wandered over to the neighbours. Her husband found her missing the next morning when he awoke and after searching the house alerted the gendarmes. Helicopters and gendarmes with dogs were called and the lady was found dead in the garden of the neighbour.  Her death was caused by hypothermia.
We had experience of this in a way when our elderly neighbour at our first home here in  France had alzheimers. She often was up at night and we found her wandering the garden and street, often with slippers under her arm, trying to find her mother. Her mother of course had died many years before. The answer for her family as she lived alone was to lock her in the house. We worried when she was roaming, we worried when she was locked in.
