As of Thursday, one euro was worth £0.75 and $1.14 and one British pound was worth €1.33 - one of the best exchange rates in years, for us expats.
When we came 13 years ago we felt rich, 1.65 euros to the pound. We came just as the euro took over from the franc so it was all quite confusing, but we do remember meals out and shopping were so cheap. Seems like a dream now after the last few much harder years.
