For the next 40 days or so the Atlantic spring tides are expected to be exceptionally high. Sandbags have been delivered to many seafront locations and spectators are warned that although the sights may be spectacular they can also be dangerous.
The French like to measure things and tides have a "coefficient de marée", a level from 20 to 120 and tides up to 119 are predicted today (Friday) and the "tide of the century" is expected on 21st March when a score of 121 is in prospect. The highest in 2014 was 114. Plenty of photo opportunities for the intrepid.
