Union leader under fire

Thierry Lepaon is the general secretary of France's biggest trade union, the CGT. Elected last year to succeed long time boss Bernard Thibault, Lepaon decided to redecorate both his official apartment and his office. Normal you might think, but at a cost of 210000 euros (à debattre/ono) it has provoked a fierce debate with calls for Lepaon to resign. So far he has refused, but left it now to the national assembly of the union to decide on January 13th. It seems that this is a case of internal politics but head of the CGT is a powerful position in France and one can imagine a power struggle taking place.
