The Euro down, the pound up..

The value of the euro has fallen by 8% over the past 6 months against most major currencies. At the moment you can buy about 1.30 euros for £1 which is good for people wishing to visit France and other eurozone countries. The fall has been particularly severe against the Swiss franc, which has gained 22% since last week making skiing trips much more expensive this winter.
On the positive side, the devaluation should make European exports cheaper and help to boost production and employment here.
No doubt many of us expats will be looking to buy some euros and it pays to compare your bank's charges with the rates offered by currency exchange firms before placing your orders.
