Ministers have promised to abolish many taxes which are onerous to administer and yield little revenue. To start from 2015 there will be no annual tax on "flippers" or "babyfoot" - ie entertainment machines in bars etc.These are charged at 5 euros per machine per annum and actually cost more to administer than they yield. Most of such taxes are levied on businesses and of over 150 have been identified. In the way of things, however, only 7 are to be abolished this year, at a loss of 29 million euros to the exchequer.
