Big ideas but back up needed

Now we are guest free  Malc and I have time to reflect on different events we organised in the summer and if we felt they worked, were worthwhile and also importantly had we enjoyed them.
Picnic in the Park we thoroughly enjoyed and found organising it together easy peasy, we had a great evening with promised sunset, brilliant music with Martins Jazz Band and super addition of John Taylor (folk'n'Jazz fame)  singing along. Our local Mayor came along with the crowds, paid more than the entrance fee and pronounces it a brilliant evening whenever he sees us. He has even offered if we organise it again to have tables and chairs delivered, a very good offer.

Salon du Jardin we felt we were too late into the Spring to start organising properly which made it more complicated and getting the word out was harder as we missed all official deadlines in the village for publicity. Nevertheless it was a good day with 50 mixed nationality participants and many local people coming to look. It was not easy working with a French committee but we did learn a lot and for next year we need more people involved, helping us getting out publicity and we want to create  a real village fair atmosphere. Now we have more confidence I am determined it should be gone for  "a l'anglais" style but with French involvement and who knows this show, it could become "le style francais" Once again we had backing from the Maire which does really help and more French on the committee will be encouraged.
This time we need more sponsorship which has got to be a priority and started early. The real success in my opinion which made such a difference to the event was Terri Tippett who came the night before with a van load of plants which really brightened up the dull Salle des fetes.
What I would like starting now are volunteers around the different communes to put their names forward who will help with promotion  and organising on the day. Ideas, ideas ideas for us to start considering and people willing to serve on a committee of helpers with or with out french language skills. We can make it fun and have a few laughs which is the way I work best, and I bet that works for you as well. If you think you have ideas and skills which would be useful and both Malc and I are happy to delegate contact us so we can start making action plans. If we have a meeting and you are in England, notes to keep you informed can be sent and links maintained.
