A calf causes chaos escaping from an abattoir in Montauban

In a bid for life a young cow escaped from the abattoir near the railway station and ran off down the road. The cow was eventually brought down but it took 6 shots.

This story reminds me of a little bullock in the field behind the Presbytere who we had called Ferdinand. He was a lovely little chap who we had watched being born and we then often watched running and playing in the field. When the farmer decided his time was up and a trip to the abattoir was needed, the little chap kept escaping making a bid for freedom.
A friend and I wanted to launch an appeal to save Ferdie but we were worried about buying him and then being owners of a feisty bull.
We are left with memories of the happy days of the little chap.
