The French on holiday

The travel site Travelzoo conducted a survey amongst its clients on the behaviour of tourists abroad. Apparently French tourists have a reputation as being "whingers". Le Figaro reckons that the French are merely more demanding and take their holidays seriously. The stereotypes are that the French tourist is arrogant, believing France and its culture superior; mean, refusing to tip and preferring "all inclusive" or camping holidays; gourmand, demanding always good food whereas "Anglo Saxons" will often make do with a sandwich or mediocre buffet; refuse to speak any language but their own (apparently shared with les Anglais); always dress correctly, unlike the Anglo Saxons.
The somewhat defensive Figaro article is of the opinion that the French tourist just wants a good time. (Sadly we Anglo Saxons seem to be too scruffy, too easily pleased, too wasteful with our sous to actually be enjoying ourselves).
