In the Depeche is a sad story where a lady only in her late fifties was closing the shutters on the second level. It is not clear if she had a black out or if she overbalanced, but she fell out, killing herself in the fall.
When we lived at the Presbytere we had windows which you could step out onto the ledge [ if you were foolish enough to do so] overhanging a concrete patio.
